Experience the DWD Nonprofit Difference
We believe there is a need for nonprofit organizations to have a financial partner that understands the specific challenges of being a nonprofit. This is why we have dedicated ourselves to serving the nonprofit sector.
Focus. Nonprofit organizations were one of our major areas of practice even before the Financial Accounting Standards Board issued the nonprofit accounting standards FAS 116 and 117 in 1993. We have a dedicated team of CPAs
that works nearly 100% of the time with nonprofit organizations. Nonprofit accounting is unique and requires specialized knowledge and experience. By focusing on nonprofit organizations, our team can provide expert advice to our clients on the areas that are unique to nonprofits. Our nonprofit clients and their needs come first at DWD.
Experience. Our Nonprofit Service Team has over 65 years of experience working with nonprofit organizations. Not only does our team provide professional services to nonprofit organizations, they serve on nonprofit boards and committees. Because of this involvement, they have been exposed to various situations, solutions and best practices of nonprofit organizations. This background allows them to understand the whole organization, from financial reporting to governance to fund raising, and to provide clients with advice on all areas of the organization.
Education. Accounting in the nonprofit sector requires specialized knowledge. Our nonprofit team annually attends over 120 hours of continuing professional education to stay current on accounting requirements, regulations and issues facing the industry. Our team passes on their knowledge to our clients to ensure that they too are kept up to date on current issues. Our “Mission Minded” nonprofit blog provides a source of best practices for nonprofit organizations, ranging from board engagement to unrelated business income. Our team has also provided seminars on various topics such as the following.
- Redesigned 990: Are Your Policies and Procedures in Place?

- Creating an Effective Board of Directors
